Colchester United have added to their U21s squad for the new season.
Following the six new recruits coming into the U's U18s squad recently, a handful of players will be joining the U21s this season.
Matt Yates has come through the Academy at the U's and has signed a new deal to remain at the club, whilst the other four are all new faces.
Matt told the official website: "I felt I had a successful second year at the club, breaking through to the U21s about half-way through before really cementing my place in the squad."
"It feels great that my performances over the course of the season have been good enough to earn a new contract. I’m very excited to crack on now and I can’t wait for it all to start again."
The four others will be joining the U's from July 1st, subject to all the clearances from the relevent bodies.
Archie Oliver, Keleel Green, Ronny Nelson and Jet Dyer will join their new Col U teammates for pre-season training ahead of the 2023/24 league campaign.
Three have joined from clubs higher up the football pyramid, (Archie - West Brom, Kaleel -Arsenal and Ronny - Leicester), but Jet makes a step-up after his move from Aylesbury Vale Dynamos.
He told cu-fc.com: "It’s a big step up for me, coming from non-league football, however I’m excited to sink my teeth into a new challenge here at Colchester United."
"I’m proud, it feels good to be here, a bit surreal but great at the same time. I really want to push on now and I know the coaches at the club can turn me into a better footballer."
