Ben Garner will be looking to get his first three points as Colchester United Head Coach when Tranmere Rovers visit North Essex.

Getting his first point on the board with a dramatic 2-2 draw against Leyton Orient last time out, the boss has said that their last result gives them a platform to build on going into this weekend.

Connor Hall and Noah Chilvers struck late to earn the U’s a last-minute point at the league leaders, and it is a result that should boost the morale of the players, according to Garner.

“You could see the confidence the first goal gave us. We have to build on that now, we have to take that into Saturday’s game and be confident and positive, look to score more goals and look to win the game.

“We want to target wins now in these two home games coming up. Full respect to Tranmere, they’ve had a change of manager so that could impact what they do and how they set up – we won’t know that until Saturday.

“But we’ve prepared well. The lads have been energetic this week and we’re constantly adding things in day by day and we want to take the performance from last week up again.

“It’s in our hands. As long as we perform and get results then we’re fine. That’s all we can control and that’s where my energy and it’s where the players’ energy needs to go.”
