The young U’s take the trip to Coventry today in the hopes of securing three points in the Professional Development League.
The U’s will be desperate to turn their form around after going five games without a win, following their most recent loss to Watford who are bottom of the league, the game didn’t start well for the U’s as Watford went 2-0 up before half time, Kai Redgrave managed to pull one back for the U’s with a fantastic effort before Brad Ihionvien was sent off for a second bookable offence.
Coventry sit 8th in Group A of the Professional Development League, they’ve got twenty-four points compared to the U’s twenty-two points. However the table is split into North and South groups so the U’s beating Coventry today doesn’t do a huge amount for them.
Colchester United U21s have the chance to close the gap on Ipswich to three points, although the Suffolk side have a game in hand. Coventry can jump up two places in their group, a win would move them over Peterborough and Birmingham on goal difference.
This is a big chance for Liam Bailey’s side to gain some confidence.
