Matt Jay has spoken about performances, wins and Ben Garner in his most recent interview with us here at Colchester United.
The U’s welcome Newport County to the JobServe Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon, and Matt Jay has talked about how it’s important to get three points and turn performances into wins.
Jay has also spoken about the new Head Coach, Ben Garner and believes that his playing style is much more suited to Garner’s way of playing than it was with the previous Head Coach.
“We’re under no illusions that we need to win, unfortunately at the moment we’re sort of looking over our shoulders and hoping no one catches us, but I think if we get a win on Saturday and back that up in the next couple of games, touch wood but we’ll probably be ok.
“Look, I think the performances have been a lot better since the new gaffer’s come in, I think the players have got a much clearer understanding of how we can win games and how he wants us to play.
“I think there’s enough games for us before the end of the season to get us where we want to be.
“the new manager has come in and he’s probably more suited to my style of play and like I said has given us all a clear understanding of how he wants us to play and where he wants to get us moving forward and I’ve been really enjoying my time with him.
“He’s certainly got some really good ideas and like I said the performances have been pretty good recently so I think there’s enough time to turn these good performances into some wins.”
