Match Preview | U18s vs Peterborough

Young U’s welcome Peterborough to Florence Park.

17 March 2023

Colchester United U18s take on Peterborough for the second time in a week, following the semi-final heartbreak on Tuesday.

This time, it’s the Professional Development League, and the U’s will be looking to take some revenge after the agonisingly close semi-final defeat.

The U’s have won three and lost two in their last five games, with the two losses being the most recent games. Colchester United are currently sitting ninth in the Professional Development League, one point ahead of Ipswich who sit in tenth.

Peterborough are coming into this game in perfect form, five wins from their last five and they’re third in the league, pushing for promotion and equal on points with Sheffield United who are in second, a very strong side.

We don’t have to cast our minds back too far when thinking about the last time the two sides met. The U’s and Peterborough slugged it out on Tuesday in the semi-final of the Professional Development League Cup. An exciting 0-0 with extra-time looking to be on the cards, however heartbreak struck for the U’s. The hosts put in a deep ball, and they had a man over on the right. The forward took a touch and without letting the ball bounce he hit it past Harrison Chamberlain and into the net, igniting scenes of celebration from the home bench.

Kick off is at 11am on Saturday.
