Colchester United U21s will hope to bounce back following their defeat to Millwall on Tuesday.
On Friday at 11:30am, the U's welcome bottom of the league Watford to the Maldon Stadium as they try to expand the gap between themselves and the league strugglers.
The U’s are coming into this game following a 2-1 loss to top of the league Millwall in a game that could have gone either way. The U’s showed themselves well and went ahead in the first half, Lion Bello put in a brilliant ball that caught out a defender who put it into his own net.
However, Millwall were just too strong for the U’s and three minutes later the visitors equalised. The U’s managed to keep the scores level until the second half but a few loose passes in their own half lead to them giving the ball away and giving the Millwall forward an easy finish.
Watford are sitting last in the Professional Development League with only eleven points, the U’s are one place above them but have double their points. However, despite being last by a long way, Watford are actually coming into this game following a 1-0 win at home to QPR. Both Watford and the U’s will see this as a chance to get some points on the board, which will lead to an exciting game.
