Matty Etherington has shared his thoughts ahead of the U’s Sky Bet League Two clash against Barrow, taking place on Saturday (KO 3pm) at the JobServe Community Stadium.
Colchester will look to carry on their winning form, having progressed to the knock-out stages of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy with a 1-0 win over League One side Peterborough on Tuesday night.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s match, Matty said that there is a lot of “positivity” within his squad and that he’s looking forward to facing the Bluebirds.
The U’s Head Coach added: “Obviously you need to go through Barrow and their strengths, but it's definitely more of a case of what we can do to affect them. They're a good side in good form lately, so we know it's going to be another tough game.
“But like I said after the game on Tuesday, there seems to be a positivity around the place, a good feeling within the camp and we just got to make sure that we can keep or maintain that for as long as we can.
“And yes, Saturday will be a tough game, but one we're looking forward to.”
Matty also provided some updates on players who are recovering from injury. He said: “There's some really good quality at this football club and there are players now who are slowly starting to return.
“Mauro Bandeira is back from Arsenal and training this week. He needs a full week of training but he's back. Ellis [Iandolo] has been out on the grass this week which is brilliant, John Akinde the same, so slowly but surely we're starting to get some bodies back on the grass.
“They're going to need the right amount of time to get them right up to peak fitness and match fitness, etc. but it’s really positive to see those players out on the grass.”
