COLCHESTER UNITED COMMUNITY FOUNDATION HOSTED COL U 1ST TEAM PLAYERS AT 5 COMMUNITY OUTREACH SESSIONS AND SAW A HUGE IMPACT FOR ALL INVOLVED.
First team players Samson Tovide, Will Greenidge, Owen Goodman, Tom Hopper, Tom Smith, Matt Jay and Al-Amin Kazeem, entertained young and old, players, parents and carers alike and brought a huge amount of value and joy to our Premier League Kicks, Walking Football and Adult Pan-Disability sessions, across the region at centres in Colchester, Clacton-on-Sea and Harwich.
From insightful and inspirational Question and Answer groups which saw the players field questions to some “thrown-in at the deep end” refereeing duties and the signing of everything from match day programmes to the soles of trainers, we really couldn’t have asked for any more from these fantastic ambassadors of the Club.
The buzz and excitement and smiles on faces were priceless from participants and players, and these visits have already inspired some wonderful outcomes for our regulars, from an increased sense of belonging and value as part of the Colchester United community to reaffirming the dreams of some aspiring future footballers.
In the weeks following the player visits our Community Foundation coaches have been asked by many participants when the next player visits will be and as a result this is something that we are already looking in to.
First Team Forward, Tom Hopper shared his experience with us too –
“It was great to see the session and see the huge numbers that came, both girls and boys. The positivity from all the staff and the smiles on the kids’ faces goes to show how much these sessions bring joy and good football experience to all those that attended”
As a Community Foundation we run a comprehensive calendar of free and paid sessions throughout the year, including Football Skills Centres, Pan-Disability groups, Walking Football, Over 60’s social and activity meetings and Premier League Kicks football and social behaviour sessions. We also spend a huge amount of time in schools and education centres delivering everything from football to yoga, Community Safety projects to Primary maths, using our wealth of experience and “the power of the badge” to bring additional value and impact.
