U’s on-loan goalkeeper Owen Goodman says he has been enjoying his start to life in North Essex, and is looking forward to going up against one of the league’s best this weekend with Mansfield at the JobServe Community Stadium.
It’s been a good few weeks for Goodman, with the nineteen-year-old keeping two clean sheets in the last three games, as well as being called up for an England U20 training camp at St George’s Park last week.
And the Crystal Palace loanee is now hoping to make it three clean sheets in four with this weekend’s game against high-flying Mansfield in North Essex.
“We go into every game wanting to win, with a positive mindset believing that we can win, so no matter what the circumstances of Mansfield, we’re playing ninety minutes of football and taking it to them.
“We’ve had a good week here, and we have to just keep pushing on and the results will come. The performances will come – over the last three games we’ve had good wins against Gillingham and Tranmere and could have got a point against Walsall, but we need to build that consistency going forward.
“We’ve already beaten a top side once, we can do it again. But we go into every game wanting to win, no matter who the opponent is. We want to play our game, get the result and have a good performance.”
