Colchester United Community Foundation are pleased to announce that funding from the Essex Police, Fire & Crime Commissioner has continued for another year.
Using this grant, CUCF will be supporting the delivery of 4 Community Safety Projects across North Essex – United Against Knife Crime, Many Minds One Heart, Unite our Communities and Fly Like an Eagle - which will educate young people aged 10-16 around key issues, such as serious violence, county lines, knife crime and mental health, as well as providing 1-to-1 support around self-esteem and confidence within young people.
Feeding back on the past year, Roger Hirst (Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex) thanked Colchester United for all of the great work that had been done through the funding. He added,
“There was lots of positive comments about the difference the work is making and how inspirational the work is. Thank you for the part you and your organisation played in this and the difference you are making in the lives of so many young people.”
Young people who attended the programmes said
“It made me realise how gangs try to get people to join based on their character, looking for low confidence and things like that. It has made me more aware of looking for different actions (behaviours) in my friends and now I know where I can get help or report it to someone who can help me or friends.”
“Learnt practical strategies of how to deal with knife crime.”
“Taught us how to act and be safe.”
