Embleton Departs For Pastures new

Recruitment Chief leaves the U's

2 February 2024

Ross Embleton is moving on from Colchester United.

The U's Head of Recruitment joined the U's in the summer of 2022, and has also stepped in to help with first team coaching duties between permanent Head Coaches.

He has most recently been instrumental in ensuring a successful January transfer window, and leaves the U's in a strong position to move away from the bottom of League Two in the second half of the season.

U's Sporting Director Dmitri Halajko was keen to praise Ross, saying: "It's really disappointing, I've really enjoyed working with Ross."

"He's added a lot to the football club, the recruitment he's put in has been second to none - he's worked with four different managers which isn't easy to adapt to but he's been able to do that.

"Ross has added more to the club than just Head of Recruitment - he also helped out with the first team when needed, both as an Assistant Coach when Matt Bloomfield came in and has taken the reins as a Caretaker as well.

"He's also been across the academy, helping them with Academy recruitment, the younger players and their pathways."

"We're losing a key member of staff, he's taking up an opportunity that he wants to do and we totally understand because people progress from this football club.

"We're sad to lose him, but equally wish him all the best and thank him for what he's done for us."

Dmitri also spoke about the need to replace Ross, adding: "We'll need a quality replacement and will be actively recruiting as soon as possible for our new Head of Recruitment."
