Alex Newby and the U's have parted company, after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent.
Newby joined the U's from Rochdale on a free transfer in the summer of 2022, after making over eighty appearances for Dale in his two seasons there.
Last season saw him regularly in the U's line-up, making a total of thirty six appearances.
In September, he joined Altrincham on loan, a deal that was then extended at the beginning of this month.
He has been a regular for the National League side, scoring seven goals in eighteen appearances, and has now signed there permenantly.
