Nico Lawrence has returned to Southampton.
The cultured centre-half heads back to his parent club halfway through what was an original season long loan.
An impressive start at the heart of the U's defence saw the twenty-one year old make five appearances within the first three weeks of his arrival, before injury struck.
In the U's 3-0 victory at Gillingham, Lawrence suffered a serious ankle injury and returned to St Mary's for his rehab.
Just as he was nearing fitness, he then suffered a dislocated shoulder in training that kept him out of action for a further few weeks.
Following a full recovery, all parties decided that it was best for Nico to return to The Saints, with everyone at Colchester United wishing him good luck for the future and thanking him for his time at the U's.
