Club team up with TIER to support sustainable transport

30 January 2024

Colchester United have teamed up with TIER, Europe's largest shared micro-mobility operator ahead of Green Football Weekend and our match against Forest Green Rovers.

TIER provides shared e-scooters and e-bikes in Colchester, as well as locations across Essex, much of the UK and in 29 countries around the world, providing a convenient and sustainable alternative way to get around without needing to drive. TIER has led the way for green credentials in its industry, becoming the first climate-neutral company in early 2020 and pioneered swappable batteries to make their operations more sustainable.

Colchester United have now teamed up with TIER to provide a designated parking bay at the JobServe Community Stadium, with the geo-restrictions on United Way removed ahead of this weekend’s League Two fixture against Forest Green Rovers, allowing you to ride right up to the turnstiles.

This weekend is Green Football Weekend across the EFL with clubs taking action to reduce carbon pollution – and one way you can help is by leaving the car at home, reducing traffic and associated emissions and using a TIER e-scooter or e-bike to the game.

Del O’Sullivan, Regional Operations Manager, TIER, commented: “Football has an incredible power to bring people together and make positive change in their community. Green Football Weekend shows how even small individual changes, when multiplied across a stadium full of fans, can have a massive impact. We are proud to support Colchester United fans in making it easier to choose to travel more sustainably, helping improve local air quality, reduce traffic and make a dent in carbon emissions."

Ben Conway, Partnerships & Hospitality Sales Manager, Colchester United said: "We are excited to be working in partnership with TIER to promote the use of their e-scooters and e-bikes in and around Colchester. As a club, sustainability is an ongoing topic of conversation and we are always looking at sustainable and accessible methods of transport to and from the stadium. We hope with the promotion of the Scooters and Bikes, the opening up of the no ride zone on United Way and the addition of a designated parking zone at the JobServe Community Stadium, supporters, visiting fans and guests visiting the stadium for non-footballing activities will try out this fun and eco-friendly mode of transport."
