Jay Mingi has completed a move to Stockport County for an undisclosed fee, subject to completion of relevant paperwork.
The versatile midfielder joins the newly promoted Hatters in the third tier after recently being crowned League Two champions in 2023/24.
Mingi only joined the U’s last summer, going on to make twenty-eight appearances for the club in all competitions and becoming one of the first names on the teamsheet towards the end of the year with a series of strong performances under his former Portsmouth boss Danny Cowley.
Perhaps the most memorable moment Jay had in a U’s shirt was the last-minute winner he scored at the JobServe Community Stadium against Newport County on Good Friday. Blasting the ball into the roof of the net, Mingi secured the all-important three points for his side, scooping the club’s Goal of the Month accolade for the strike too.
Speaking on the move, Sporting Director Dmitri Halajko said: "We would like to thank Jay for his contribution to Colchester United last season. His performances caught the eye of many clubs in higher leagues and Jay wanted to move on to test himself.
"We wish Jay every success at Stockport and are sure he will continue to develop in League One."
