LILLI-ROSE FOSKEW AWARDED LATEST COMMUNITY CHAMPION

Colchester United Community Foundation are delighted to announce Lilli-rose Foskew as our Community Champion for the month of August. 

Lilli-Rose has been awarded our Community Champion for her extraordinary showing of courage, compassion and selfless dedication.

Lilli-Rose lives with Ehlers‑Danlos syndrome and brittle bones, but is still a keen swimmer. She has also been recovering from a ruptured Achilles that kept her out of the water for over 18 months, but achieved the remarkable feat of swimming 100 miles throughout July 2026 raising £1,500. 

Alongside that, she is a constant, caring presence in the life of her brother Logan, who has learning difficulties and epilepsy. She is always helping him get to matches to support Colchester United, the team he loves. On August 1st she drove to Stevenage for the pre-season fixture, her first away trip with the U's.

To celebrate her incredible work, Lilli-Rose was invited to the Colchester United vs Oldham Athletic fixture on Saturday 22nd August. 

As part of this, she enjoyed a special stadium tour that included the rare opportunity to step inside the first team dressing room. 

Lilli-Rose was then presented with her Community Champion award in front of the fans by Jake Leake & Ben Perry, before proudly leading both teams out onto the pitch ahead of Colchester’s dramatic 2-1 victory. 

 

“Saturday was such an amazing day and one that I’ll remember for a lifetime. Finding out I had been chosen as the Community Champion after a tough swim session made the news even more special. I then got to spend the day at the U’s, knowing that later I would be walking onto the pitch to receive an award that meant so much to me."

"Standing on the pitch and being presented with my award was an incredibly proud and emotional moment. Seeing the club recognise the work I do in the community, and being able to share that moment with my brother, made it even more special. There have been plenty of ups, downs, setbacks and challenges along the way, so being able to stop and appreciate how far I’ve come was really important to me.

"My favourite part of the day, though, was walking off the pitch after leading the team out and then being given a hug by Danny. It was such a simple moment, but one that meant so much to me and is something I’ll remember for a very long time.

"The whole day was an incredible experience from start to finish. Being surrounded by the club, the supporters and the people who have supported me made it even more memorable. Then, to finish the day by celebrating the award with a dramatic 94th-minute winner was the perfect ending!

"I’m incredibly proud of the award and so grateful to the Community Foundation for giving me such a special day. It’s a memory I’ll treasure for a lifetime.”
