Colchester United's Carabao Cup First Round tie will be live on Sky Sports Football.
The U's clash with Championship side Southampton will now kick-off at 5.30pm on Saturday 8th August, moved from the scheduled start time of 3pm.
Despite starting the campaign with a four point deduction, the Saints will still be one of the favourites for promotion to the Premier League so will provide a tough test for the U's at the JobServe Community Stadium.
It will be the U's first competitive fixture of the new season for Danny, Nicky and the squad, with the new League Two campaign starting a week later with the trip to Accrington Stanley.
Ticket details for the game against Southampton will be announced in due course but tickets are on sale now for the U's first two home league games, against Oldham Athletic and Rochdale.
