Colchester United have secured the services of Paul Digby.

Digby was released from his contract at Dundee FC and has put pen to paper on a deal here at the U's, subject to the usual paperwork approvals and ITC.

The experienced midfielder began his career at Barnsley, in their Academy, before signing as a Scholar in the summer of 2011.

A couple of months later, he became their fourth-youngest ever player when he made his debut, and went on to make twenty five appearances for the Tykes.

He then played for Ipswich Town, Mansfield, Forest Green, Stevenage and Cambridge, and it was at Cambridge that the thirty-one-year-old stayed the longest and played the most, with 229 appearances in his five-year spell at the Abbey.

He swapped League Two for the Scottish Premier League a year ago, playing top flight football north of the border for Dundee, making eighteen appearances in total.
