This month, we welcomed participants from its Education, Sports Participation, Health and Inclusion programmes to the JobServe Community Stadium for a special open stadium day.

The event offered a unique opportunity for participants to take part in their usual sessions on the Colchester United first team pitch.

Head of Delivery at Colchester United Community Foundation, Kieran Michaels, said:

“These days are always very rewarding. It is great to provide our participants with an opportunity to come down to their local stadium. It is really important that we feel we can give back to the community.”

The day began with eight partner schools attending a morning session. Primary school pupils took part in a multisport PE lesson on the pitch, while Premier League Inspires participants enjoyed a mix of cricket and football activities.

Following this, students from the boys and girls Football College Programme, delivered in partnership with SIGMA, were given the chance to train and play on a professional pitch.

In the afternoon, the stadium welcomed participants from the Senior U’s, Team Talk and Adult Inclusive U’s programmes. Their sessions were followed by training for the Boys and Girls Development Centres, rounding off a busy and engaging day.

We would like to thank everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the event and hopes that all participants enjoyed the experience as much as the team enjoyed hosting it.
