Bio

Continuing the legacy of his football family, Barbrook proves his blue-and-white stripes through his engine and intensity as a defensive midfielder on loan from Ipswich Town.

He is the twin brother of fellow footballer, Harry Barbrook, also at Ipswich Town and his father, Matthew Barbrook, was a youth player at Ipswich and Scunthorpe in the 1980s.

Fin started his youth career as a product of Ipswich Town FC Academy in April 2021. In March 2023, he signed his first professional contract and played for the U21 squad. After captaining the U21 squad for the 2023/24 season, he was named the club’s Academy Player of the Year.

He spent a couple of seasons loaned out to different clubs. During the 2024/25 season, he completed a loan spell at Sutton United in the National League, becoming highly successful which resulted in winning both the Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards.

During the beginning of the 2025/26 season, he was on loan at Lincoln City however, he saw not much action on the pitch with the first team. He returned to Ipswich Town in January 2026 but joined the U’s on 30th January 2026 for the remainder of the season.

He has been praised by Danny Cowley for his “proper” training intensity and physical presence.

“Hopefully we can together do something special.”
