As a youngster from Ditchling, Sussex, Leon Chiwome played locally for Hassocks F.C. and Plumpton Athletic F.C. at age 14. While playing for Alford F.C. in Surrey, Chiwome was scouted by English Football League side AFC Wimbledon, thus joined the team’s academy in 2022.
Chiwome trained at the academy before earning a high-profile move to then-Premier League team Wolverhampton Wanderers in July 2022. He signed his first professional contract shortly after, at just age 17.
During the 2023/24 season, he broke into the Wolves’ first team, making his senior debut in an FA Cup Quarter-Final against Coventry City as a late substitute. He soon made his first full Premier League debut in a 2-0 loss to Aston Villa.
Internationally, Chiwome scored a 48-minute hat trick for England U17 on 14th January 2023 in a 6-0 win over Germany U17. He represented England at the 2023 UEFA European U17 Championship in Hungary. In November 2023, Chiwome was called up by Baltemar Brito to the senior Zimbabwe national football team for FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda and Nigeria, however, he did not feature in the finalised squad for the matches.
On 22nd March 2024, Chiwome made his England U18 debut during a 2-1 victory over Czech Republic in the U18 Super Cup at Pinatar Arena.
His season-long loan to the U’s was secured on 31st July 2026.
