Bio

Owura Edwards joined Colchester United in the summer of 2023 on a two-year deal – a year after impressing on loan at the JobServe Community Stadium.

The pacey winger began his career with Newport County, progressing through the academy at Rodney Parade before earning a move to Championship side Bristol Rovers in the summer of 2019.

Spending his first season at Ashton Gate on loan at Bath City, Edwards was gaining first team experience before a second loan a year later to League Two side Grimsby Town.

Amassing twenty appearances, Owura’s first goal came against Cheltenham Town in 2020. In the 2021/22 season he was again loaned out to League Two clubs, first to Exeter City until January before making his first outing to North Essex by joining the U’s later that month.

Edwards impressed in his first spell with the club, netting three goals in thirteen before returning to the Robins for another loan away from Ashton Gate. This time, the winger had a stint in Scotland with Ross County in the Premiership – he netted five goals in thirty-four appearances.

Following his release from Bristol City, Owura rejoined the U’s on a permanent two-year deal in the summer of 2023.

In the 2025/26 season, he scored a goal within the final minutes of the match against Bristol Rover, finishing the match with a 0-1 away win.

“We have really good attacking players—when I get my moment, when I get my opportunity, it’s about making something happen.”
