Bio

Rob Hunt joined the U’s on a two-year deal in the summer of 2024, signing from League One side Leyton Orient.

The full back began his career with Brighton’s academy, and made his first team debut against Colchester United in Albion’s 4-0 home win in Round One of the Carabao Cup in 2016 - Hunt made his league debut a month later for the Championship side.

Later that season, Hunt was loaned out to League One side Oldham Athletic to get more first team experience and made the move permanent a year later, making thirty-seven appearances for the Boundary Park side in his first full campaign.

The following season, after Oldham’s relegation to League Two, Hunt scored his first professional goal with a strike against Northampton town, with his second coming a couple of games later in the FA Cup. Hunt would depart for Swindon Town in the summer of 2019 and played forty games as the Robins were promoted to League One as champions.

And Hunt would get another fourth tier promotion on his CV a couple of years later with a move to Leyton Orient. The defender was again a regular in the side that topped the table with thirty-three outings.

He made a further thirty-nine appearances for the East London club in the 2023/24 campaign, before opting to join the U’s on a two-year deal in the summer of 2024.

“ …As you get older, I think you know, you get more experienced, try and help the young ones because obviously you was young one day and someone helped you, So try and give back to the young ones and just try and point them in the right direction…”
