In his early years, Sean Raggett began his development in Gillingham’s academy before joining Dover Athletic at age 16, where he made over 150 appearances. Throughout the season, Raggett established himself as a formidable defender.
In October 2010, Raggett joined Sittingbourne on a dual registration basis with Dover Athletic. He made his debut as a substitute in a 1-0 defeat at Fleet town on 30th October 2010, whereas in the following game against Leatherhead, he made his full debut. Despite a 2-1 defeat to Leatherhead, he received praise for playing well “above the standards you would expect from a 16 year old”. Raggett made a total of seven starts and one substitute appearance for Sittingbourne.
His first loan spell was at Isthmian League Division One side Whitstable Town, where under the guidance of manager Chris Kinnear, he learned his trade and became a talented and uncompromising centre-back as well as a crowd favourite.
In 2016, Raggett moved to Lincoln City under manager Danny Cowley, and was the start of his big break. Raggett scored a 89-minute winner in an FA Cup fifth round match against Premier League team Burnley, which ultimately reached the Quarter-Finals. On 18th August 2017, he moved to Norwich City on a three-year deal but rejoined Lincoln City on loan until 1st January 2018.
On 28th July 2018, Raggett joined Rotherham United on a season-long loan deal with a recall option for Norwich City in January. Although Raggett stayed longer than January, the season ended prematurely for him due to an ankle injury which required surgery. He returned to Norwich in early March 2019.
Raggett joined Portsmouth on a season-long loan on 27th June 2019, and one year later, he joined Pompey on a permanent two-year deal on 3rd August 2020, following his release by Norwich. The move saw him sign a new two-year deal and the win for the Supporters’ Player of the Season Award. Raggett would play under Danny Cowley again when he joined Pompey on 19th March 2021. Raggett also became the Pompey player with the most appearances for the club in the 21st century, with 227 appearances. His contract expired on 1st May 2024.
Rotherham was the next team Raggett signed for on a two-year deal on 24th May 2024, however he joined Cambridge United on loan from 2nd February 2026 for the remainder of the 2025/26 season, making only three appearances as the team secured promotion. Whereas, Rotherham was relegated to League Two in which Raggett departed from the club upon the expiry of his contract.
On 1st July 2026, Raggett joined the U’s, playing under Danny Cowley for the third time in his career.
