Bigger & Better Comedy Clubs

12 December 2012

A new look for 2013 with Big Cheese Comedy.

Colchester United's Comedy Clubs have been a roaring success over the past four years – but they're about to get bigger and better in 2013.

Big crowds have seen a host of great comedians come to the Weston Homes Community Stadium since the U's moved to their new venue in 2008 and those comedy lovers are in for a real treat in the new year.

The U's have teamed up with Big Cheese Comedy to offer an even better comedy experience with great value still on offer for those that head to events on the first Thursday of every month.

Big Cheese Comedy is now in its third full year of running successful comedy gigs across the country and owner Carl Day can't wait to get started in Colchester in 2013.

"Colchester is my home town so I'm really excited about bringing the Big Cheese Comedy experience to the stadium," he said.

"I love comedy with a passion and what has been clear to me in the time that Big Cheese has been up and running is that there's a load of talent out there that deserves the chance to get some exposure.

"We’re running a number of gigs each the month across the country and we think that with the experience we've got, we'll bring a great night out to the people of Colchester.

"Colchester United have already established a great comedy club at the stadium and we're looking forward to taking that to the next level.

"There’s still plenty of potential to do more, and we are keen to get started in working with the U's to make this a big success."

The new look nights will see an extended night, with three comedians and a professional compere at each month to cater for all comedy tastes. With tickets still just £10, it represents a great value evening out.

"We are really excited about working with Big Cheese Comedy," U's Head of Sales Michelle Tricker said.

"I have seen their nights at other venues and I believe that they’re going to take our comedy clubs onto the next level.

"We’ve got a great crowd of people who regularly attend our comedy nights and we’re looking forward to giving them something more, as well as welcoming new people to our fantastic evenings."

The Big Cheese Comedy Clubs at the Weston Homes Community Stadium get underway on Thursday February 7th and tickets are on sale now from the U's by calling 01206 752443.
