Festive Loan Report

29 December 2014

Holman picks up a win with Shots.

It was a busy festive period for the U's loanees currently out at other clubs.

The Christmas fixture list saw the five players notch up seven appearances between them and, after the last two weekends had seen the U's players end up winless, Dan Holman broke that sequence on Sunday with his Aldershot side.

He had played ninety minutes for the Shots in their defeat to runaway Conference leaders Barnet on Boxing Day, but there were better fortunes on Sunday.

They defeated Woking 2-1 to notch an important three points.

Marcus Bean also saw an improvement in fortunes on Sunday after a Boxing Day defeat.

Portsmouth had lost 2-0 at home to AFC Wimbledon on the 26th to continue their tough season, but they put in a determined and resilient display against high-flying Luton on Sunday to notch up an important point.

Marcus played ninety minutes in both games for Pompey and Jabo Ibehre also completed ninety minutes on Boxing Day.

However, the striker and his team-mates were unable to prevent defeat at home to improving Crewe, who took a crucial three points in a 2-1 win.

Billy Roast's Hornchurch lost 3-1 against Billericay, whilst Conor Hubble is now back at the U's after his loan spell with Leiston concluded with five appearances under his belt.
