Essex Senior Cup tie postponed.
The U's game against Thurrock has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.The Essex Senior Cup tie was due to be played on Tuesday night but will now have to be rearranged.
A pitch inspection was carried out on Monday afternoon, and the decision to postpone the tie was made due to the current condition of the surface and the forecast rain for the next twenty four hours.
Rob Whitton, the referee tasked with the inspection, told the U's official website:"The pitch is unplayable in almost all areas at this moment and everything in the weather forecast suggests that it will only get worse before the scheduled kick-off time on Tuesday."
"The players' safety has to be considered and it would certainly be endangered in these conditions."
The tie will now take place on Tuesday 14th January, kick off 7.45pm.
