Essex Senior Cup postponed
Tuesday night's game against Thurrock has again been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.The Essex Senior Cup tie was originally due to be played last week, on January 7th, but was called off due to the condition of the surface.
In the seven days since, further rain has hit north Essex and the decision to postpone the rearranged game was made after an inspection on Tuesday morning.
Barry Holderness, the referee tasked with the latest inspection, told the U's official website:"There is still water sitting on top of the pitch and it is extremely heavy down the centre of the pitch."
"There is no way the ball would move as it should so we have no alternative but to call it off."
The game will now take place on Monday 20th January, kick off 7.45pm.
