Men's Health Day Returns

12 March 2014

Crucial health event to be held at WHCS.

Professor Chris Booth, of charity CHAPS who are hosting the event, said: "We are now in the final stages of preparation for the third CHAPS Charity Men’s Health Day at the Weston Homes Community Stadium and it promises to be as full a day as ever.

The event on Thursday 27th March will see a range of health testing opportunities for men of all ages at the stadium and, best of all, these are all free for you to participate in and ensure you're in tip top shape.

Colchester United will welcome Men's Health Day back to the Weston Homes Community Stadium for the third time later this month.

"I am delighted to report that we have again had great support from our sponsors (NEEB Holdings Ltd, Prostate Health UK, D J Snell Builders, Catten College, Mr & Mrs I Hunter, Essex Fire & Rescue, Milsom Hotels & Restaurants, Day Lewis Pharmacies and Ramsay Health Care Oaks Hospital) who have already covered the cost of the event!

"We will be providing free tests for abdominal aortic aneurysm screening, PSA based prostate cancer screening, cardiovascular risk assessment oral cancer screening. These core tests will be supported by numerous health-related stands in the exhibition."

Following on from the days' events, there is a Gala Charity Dinner in the evening, which will feature comedian Ian Richards and magician Michael J Fitch.

Tickets cost £55 or a table of 10 for £500.

Chris continued: "Last year CHAPS received a Big Lottery Fund grant of £74,000 and, in partnership with Enabled East as project managers, we are extending our activities right across East Anglia.

"We will be holding men’s health screening days at Southend United on May 19th, Newmarket Racecourse as part of the Enable East event on 7th June, a health day and charity dinner at Ipswich Town FC on 16th October and the Clacton Lions health day in Clacton in November.

"We will be supporting other health events as far north as Kings Lynn.

"As well as our sponsors, we would particularly like to thank Enable East, the three football clubs, the local hospitals, the community nurses, the Graham Fulford prostate cancer trust and all our exhibitors who come together to stage our events with the sole purpose of improving men’s health and well-being!"
