We're looking to take over the town - get involved!

U's Media Manager Matt Hudson said: "We’re really excited about the Take Over The Town campaign. We’ve got some fantastic relationships with many of the businesses and organisations around the town and we hope that this campaign will see us make many new friends around Colchester.

We've already got the valued support of the Colchester Gazette and Colchester Borough Council on this event, so we hope that many others will get involved along the way.

What's more, there will be a host of exciting activities around the town taking place in the last fortnight leading up to the final home game of the season.

Our #takeoverthetown event will involve organisations around the town putting up fixture posters, dressing their windows and offices in blue and white and participating in a blue and white day ahead of the match against the Bees.

Colchester United is looking to take over the town ahead of the game against Brentford on April 26th - and we're calling on businesses, shops and schools to get right behind us for what promises to be a fun event to bring the current season to a close.

"We’re proud to take the name of Colchester around the country and we hope that this campaign will allow us to spread the word around the town itself.

"When we played Chelsea back in 2006, it was brilliant to see the town covered in blue and white and we’re keen to see as many businesses and schools as possible get involved in this campaign and for their staff and pupils to have a lot of fun along the way!

"The town is starting to grow out towards the stadium and we hope that this can be the first of many such events that link the stadium with the town centre in the years to come."

The #takeoverthetown campaign is free for everyone to participate in and we're hoping we can also raise some valuable funds for charity, with further details due soon!
