Manager has his eye on squad building.

"Talks will continue over the next couple of weeks but we're talking to their representatives and we all know where we're at with the offers.

"I want to recruit some experience in the squad - more in terms of games played than age - and we are in an advanced situation with a couple of players.

"They are relatively inexperienced, though, and I think we need a bit of help within the team.

With the departure of Brian Wilson, right back is one area that he is considering and he told the official website: "We have Tosin in that position and we also have Michael O'Donoghue as a full back.

Joe has offered deals to a number of players that were with the U's last season, and has his sights fixed on new additions to bolster the squad.

Whilst still urging caution in what he expects to be a 'slow summer', he remains content that things are moving in the right direction as he prepares for his second full season in charge of Colchester United.

U's boss Joe Dunne believes he is making good progress in terms of building his squad for next season, with pre-season getting underway in just over a month.

"I'm comfortable with how things are going at this stage."
