Starz Come To Perform

20 February 2015

Dance display by local academy.

Saturday's half time performance comes from Starz Performing Arts Academy.

The group was founded in 2005 as a project to give children in the regeneration areas of Colchester the chance to take part in performing arts workshops.

Since then, they have grown into a thriving academy with classes in Colchester and Ipswich but their ethos remains the same… That every child should get the chance to shine.

Their students are coached in drama, dance and singing and work towards shows and competitions throughout the year. They also have children working professionally in theatre, television, film and photographic work too.

They have performed in some wonderful theatres including Her Majesty’s Theatre, London, The Royal Festival hall and Sadlers Wells and they are very excited to be performing on Saturday.

There are 160 children performing here today and they are students from Starz's main academies, based at their very own Peartree Studios here in Colchester, their academy in Ipswich and their Starz from the Fordham school, and include some of our younger Starz who are affectionately known as “The Twinkles”, some of who are just 4 years old!

Claire Morris, Principal of the Academy, said: "Thanks for inviting us to perform at Weston Homes Community Stadium. We hope you enjoy the show!"
