Eastman Misses Out

6 May 2016

Defender absent with foot injury.

"I have looked at the video of the incident again and it looked like the damage was done as he went to jump rather than when he landed.

"We sent him for X-Rays and unfortunately, he has fractured a bone in his foot and will have to undergo surgery this week coming.

Tony said: "Tom had to come off at Barnsley last weekend due to him injuring his foot as he went for an aerial challenge.

Tom came off injured against Barnsley last week and, as physio Tony Flynn explained, he is now set for an operation.

Colchester United will be without defender Tom Eastman as they prepare for the final game of the season against Rochdale.

U's squad:

Should he miss out, it will be between young keepers Dillon Barnes and James Bransgrove as to who gets the nod for their debut at the weekend.

Whilst Tom misses out, the U's will wait on Elliott Parish, who also came off with a shoulder injury in the 2-2 draw at Oakwell.

"He told us the likelihood of the bone breaking again as a professional footballer would be extremely high if it wasn’t operated on so he was booked straight in."

"When we spoke to the surgeon, he said that it was an injury that would probably heal and be OK if the person sustaining it wasn’t in such a physical profession. Barnes, Parish, Brindley, Kent, Wynter, Briggs, James, Shorey, Edwards, Lapslie, Gilbey, Moncur, Dunne, Ambrose, Harrison, Wright, Sembie-Ferris, Massey, Lee, Bonne, Porter, Akinwande
