Boys Help Luke Get Poetic

Captain assists Reading Stars session

16 October 2017

Colchester United captain Luke Prosser visited a school in Braintree on Monday to play his part in the Premier League's Reading Stars project.

Premier League Reading Stars sessions are designed for boys who are in Year 5/6 and enjoy football.

These targeted interventions are aimed at boys who particularly do not enjoy reading and, through the power of football, the U's Football in the Community project hopes to engage them and prove that reading is not so bad!

U's community coach Ben Elmer explained: "We are into week 6 at White Notley and today Luke Prosser came along to visit the boys. All of the boys challenged Luke to a rhyme battle and then as a group came up with their own rhyme themed around Colchester United.

"It ended with lots of autographs, reading stories and asking questions about Colchester United and Luke’s favourite books. All involved had a terrific day which they will not forget!"

You can see the boys' rhyme on the U's Football in the Community Twitter page HERE.
