Colchester United striker Kurtis Guthrie is nearing his return to match action.
The forward, who enjoyed a rich vein of form before injuring his ankle in the game against Hartlepool in February, is set to play against Millwall in the U's U23s on September 25th.
The former Forest Green Rovers man has been back out on the grass in recent weeks and Head Coach John McGreal said: "We're aiming for Kurtis to be able to feature in the Millwall game.
"He's training with the rest of the squad, although not all of the full contact parts, as we don't want to risk anything that might set him back.
"He's been getting through a lot of work and we're hoping that date is there for him to get some game time."
