An eventful weekend for U's goalkeepers

25 September 2017

It was an eventful weekend for the U's goalkeepers out on loan from the club in their respective games this weekend.

Dillon Barnes' Welling side ran out 3-2 winners away to Havant & Waterlooville, but he saw red in the second half for his part in a penalty box melee late in the game.

Meanwhile, over at Maldon & Tiptree, Dominic Kurasik made a remarkable double save from a penalty, having initially conceded the spot kick for a foul on Christian Assombalonga in the first half at Park Drive.

Maldon eventually settled for a point in their game against Waltham Abbey, with the game finishing 1-1.

Eli Phipps played 90 minutes before being substituted late in the game in that Welling victory, whilst Ryan Clampin played the full game in the Maldon draw.

Meanwhile, George Brown got 89 minutes under his belt on Saturday as East Thurrock lost for the first time this season.

Denny Johnstone was an unused substitute as St Johnstone got back to winning ways on Saturday, and Charley Edge also watched on as Leamington recorded a first home victory in six games against Bradford Park Avenue.
