U18s Lose To Bristol

Defeat in the West Country for young U's

8 October 2018

Colchester United U18s fell to defeat in the West Country on Saturday, as Bristol City ran out 3-1 winners.

The U's were to have the first chance of the game, as Harvey Sayer's cross into the box just evaded the U's players waiting in the box.

The home side began to grow into the game and got the first of the match on 27 minutes, as Sam Pearson's smart finish put them in front.

This quickly became two three minutes later, whe Tommy Conway slotted home a penalty after Sam Pearson was fouled in the box.

And it got worse for the visitors five minutes later, as Sam Pearson scored with a fine finish past Callum Coulter.

The U's did reduce the deficit just before half time as a defensive mix-up saw the ball go in off Callum Pearson.

The U's attempted to get back into the game in the second half, with efforts from Ruben Mudd and Jake Hutchinson both going close.

But City were able to manage the game in the second half and ensured that they picked up all three points.

Colchester United: Coulter, Wind, Fouche (Patino), Cracknell, Sayer, Cooke, Miller, Kennedy, Mudd (Stagg), Hutchinson, Bolt

Unused subs: Collins, Parish, Thomas
