U18s Finish With A Defeat

Tigers' first half display takes the points

15 April 2019

The U’s U18s finished their home league fixtures with a defeat, but they responded well after a testing first half which saw them trailing by a 3-0 scoreline at the break.

Despite a good start to the game, it was the Tigers who took the lead from Best, who combined well with Guilfoyle to tuck home at the near post.

City extended their advantage twice further in the dying moments of the first half.

First, a corner was headed back into the danger area by Greaves, where Taylor was on hand to make it 2-0.

And it quickly became three when Bennett seized on a loose ball to drive home into the bottom corner.

There were no further goals in the second half until 70th minute, when long time injury sufferer, Diogo Freitas-Gouveia made his second short cameo appearance of the week, and from his time on the pitch, showed what the team had missed all season.

After a flick on by Donell Thomas, Freitas-Gouveia burst clear and struck home a fine finish.

That was to be the end of the scoring, though, as the U's now turn their attentions to the summer break and returning to a new campaign in August.
