It’s an inspiring time for Women’s football and Colchester United have lots of exciting opportunities for female players to be involved in the game, from elite players to girls new to the game.
Wildcats
SSE Wildcats Girls Football Clubs are a new initiative supported by The FA for girls to come and enjoy the game in a fun relaxed environment while developing their skills.
The sessions are ideal for girls new to football who would like to meet new friends, develop fundamental skills, learn new things and create the foundation for a lifelong love of football.
The girls will be engaged through mini games and having the freedom to be creative when playing.

Development Centre
The Colchester United Female Development Centre is an invitation-only development programme for talented girls from U7s to U16s age groups.
The Centre aims to nurture and retain advanced players, whilst offering appropriate progression pathways and exit routes for players through working in partnership with the Essex FA Regional Talent Club.
Development Centre coaches will demand a high standard in training and matches and players should come open-minded to training and be prepared to be tested week-in-week-out, technically, physically and also mentally.
Players are assessed by the coaches in their weekly training sessions and also have the opportunity to participate in fixtures against other professional football clubs such as Norwich City, Peterborough United and Cambridge United.
The Development Centre is designed to provide extra training to advanced players and does not interfere with their current Grassroots team.

Female Football College Programme
This programme is for Year 12+ female students and works in partnership with Thurstable School and Sixth Form College.
This scheme allows talented female footballers to train each day, while providing a full range of full time educational courses including BTEC courses, A levels and GCSEs.
The key focus is on academic studies, with the added bonus of a daily structured football programme with UEFA ‘B’ Licensed (FA Level 3) coaches. Fixtures are then included during the week and involve, league, cup and futsal competitions.
We encourage players to also play for other clubs at the weekends, resulting in no conflict between the two.
