Young U's Take On Watford

Hornets test for U18s

9 December 2020

Colchester United's U18s face Watford in the FA Youth Cup on Wednesday evening.

Liam Bailey and the young U's head to Hertfordshire to take on the Championship side's youngsters, with the game taking place at St Albans City FC.

The U's have beaten Stevenage and Dorking Wanderers to reach the Third Round, and will be looking to make it three away wins in the competition when they take on the Hornets on Wednesday evening.

Bailey spoke to cu-fc.com ahead of the game, saying: "The lads are all looking forward to the game and are excited to be taking on the young players at a club that operates in a higher league than us."

"It's a chance to showcase themselves against these players, and more importantly, a chance to perform well in front of Steve Ball, Hayden Mullins and the first team staff.

"The aim for all of them is to follow the likes of Samson Tovide, Harvey Sayer and Junior Tchamadeu into the first team squad - performing well in these games is the best way to achieve that.

"We'll go into the game with the same preparation as always, but this game brings a bit of something different to our league matches, because we have to win or we're out of the cup."

U's: Johnson, Collins, Marshall Miranda, Tovide, Redgrave, Aman, Parish, Stagg, Thomas, Sayer, Tchamadeu, Hockey, Haddoch, Lowe, Terry, Stringer, Fouche, Kane.
