The U's picked up a valuable three points against high-flying Exeter City on Tuesday night, after a well-executed 3-1 win at the JobServe Community Stadium.
Hayden Mullins' side overcame Exeter City, who were on the longest unbeaten run in the country, with twenty games without defeat thanks to goals from Syl Jasper, Noah Chilvers and Freddie Sears.
It was the second home win in a row for the U's, and although the previous victory came three weeks previous against Scunthorpe United, Mullins is looking for his side to continue their good home form against Newport County on Friday night.
And although it has been a challenge, having one day less to prepare for the next Sky Bet League Two fixture, Mullins says his players are in a good place and ready for the visit of the Welsh side.
"We haven't had many hours since Tuesday and we don't want to overdo it with the lads - we've got quite a thin squad at the moment so we have to be careful, with a lot of the lads having played a good number of games recently.
"It's a balance of work, and obviously keeping the momentum and the good feeling around the place. We are really please with what we did on Tuesday night, and I'm really pleased for the group.
"I'll be expecting a similar performance to Tuesday night. We don't want to rest on what we are doing at the moment, we really want to kick on and give a little bit more, which is what I'll be demanding from the players. I think if we look after ourselves then the results will look after themselves.
"The Exeter game has given us a good amount of confidence around the group which is perfect, we need to build on that now, and hopefully we can go and get a good result on Friday night."
