Match Preview | Frank Nouble

Former Exile hoping to get one over on his former team

21 October 2022

Frank Nouble will be returning to one of his old clubs on Saturday afternoon, as the U’s head to Rodney Parade to take on Newport County.

Nouble has started in two out of Matt Bloomfield’s three league games in charge at Colchester United, and the experienced forward will be looking to haunt his former employers this weekend.

And speaking ahead of the game, Nouble is using the league table as motivation to try and get three points in South Wales.

“Our performance against Swindon was solid in parts, but we lost the game, so trying to get a result against Newport is the most important next step for us as a team.

“We can’t let last weekend’s game affect the one that’s coming up, obviously it’s a massive game early in the season with the position they’re in. So hopefully we can make the most of it, and for us if we win the game we go above them in the table, so that has to be motivation in itself.

“Everything clicked for us against Harrogate, so there is a team in there that can get results in this league, but it’s about trying to be as consistent as we can and finding the right formula.”
