Ben Garner has given his thoughts ahead of Colchester United’s next match against Gillingham.
Colchester United head to Priestfield, the home of the league leaders, in the search of their first points of the season as they take on Gillingham. The U’s are coming into this game following a heart breaking loss against MK Dons at the weekend and they’re looking to put things right.
“We’ve had a quick run of games in a short space of time, with the disruption of the first game being called off it’s been a difficult start and there’s been some challenges to it and we’ve been disappointed with the points, we haven’t picked any up in the league and we want to put that right as quickly as possible so to have a full week on the training ground, being able to get some good work into the players being able to bring one or two back into the fold has been really helpful.
“There was some really positive elements to the game, some really strong performances, great opportunities to go three or 4-1 ahead which we didn’t take, and even the goals conceded, it wasn’t waves of pressure, we were holding on, it was just moments, they’re things we address, and learn from and move forwards as a young group at the moment, with what we’ve been getting on the pitch that lesson and that experience is valuable.”
