Ben Garner addresses the Swindon postponements and how the training schedule has changed going into the first Round of the Carabao Cup.
Colchester United take on Cardiff City in the first round of the Carabao Cup, in what will be the U’s first game of the season, following the postponement of our match against Swindon on Saturday. The U’s will hope to proceed to the second round but face a tough challenge in the Bluebirds, who managed a point against Leeds United over the weekend.
U’s boss, Ben Garner, has spoken about the challenge the lads face and how they’ve upped their training intensity but kept to the same schedule despite not playing on Saturday.
“We’ve had a good week on the training ground, so we’re doing some work now [Saturday afternoon], the sports science guys, George is working with the players, and then we’ll stick to the schedule, off tomorrow [Sunday] and then back in Monday. We’ll just adjust Monday now, as Monday would have been a bit of a light session, we’ll now go a bit harder with that and prep going into firstly Cardiff on Wednesday but also have an eye on Bradford on Saturday.”
