Colchester United midfielder Matt Jay has spoken ahead of our game against MK Dons on Saturday.
The U’s will be aiming to get the first win under their belt on Saturday when they welcome MK Dons to the JobServe Community Stadium, Matt Jay has spoken about Tuesday night’s loss to Wimbledon and how the players are desperate to put it right.
“Off the back of a bad result and a bit of a poor performance, we’ll be looking to put things right come Saturday. MK Dons have started really well, obviously a disappointing result for them in the week. Look it’s a new season, we’re still unsure in terms of what we’re going to face, we’re still bedding into the season, but we’re under no illusion that it’s going to be a difficult test.
“We’re all disappointed and sorry for the performance, we were well backed on Tuesday night, and the fans came out and supported us which is really nice but we know that we need to perform better than we did, it’s not for the want of trying, we’re all trying to pull our weight, we had a team meeting this morning to sort of get a few things out in the open. It’s not all doom and gloom, it’s such a long season of course, we need to try and get that first win this season and hopefully things will start improving from there. We’re looking forward to the game, we’re coming to training today full of energy and full of spirit so like I said, a couple of bad results it’s not all doom and gloom it’s a very very long season.
“It’s been a really good pre-season and actually away at Bradford we played well at parts but it was just disappointing on Tuesday night and it doesn’t look that great because we’ve not got any points on the board and obviously we had a game called off at the start of the season which doesn’t help either so, we know we need to put things right and hopefully by Saturday we’ll be in a better position.”
