Colchester United U18s embark on their 2023/24 season with a home game against Coventry City FC.
The young U’s will be hoping to get their season underway with a win against Coventry City FC. The U’s will be hoping that their early season form will be the same as their form last season, as the U’s ended strongly, winning six games on the bounce.
The last time the U18s faced Coventry was August 2022, where the lads came away 3-2 winners with a game away from home, Elliott Ward’s side will be hoping to emulate that this time around.
The U18s boss had this to say when asked about the upcoming campaign:
“We’re really excited, the boys have worked really hard over the last six weeks to get ready for the season, it’s been some good work on and off the pitch, some really good friendlies, we’ve had a really good mixture [of levels] to try and prepare the boys for anything that comes our way.”
A slight change has been made to the U18s side, with Milton Oni being named captain for the 2023/24 season, the talented youngster will lead his side out on Saturday morning for the first time, he said this on receiving the armband.
“It’s all down to the help and support of my teammates, if not for them, none of this would have been possible, I also want to thank the manager, Elliott, for putting a lot of trust in me and faith to be able to help lead the group and help us to win games and titles.”
