Chilvers speaks ahead of Northampton.

23 February 2023

Noah Chilvers has spoken about the change in Head Coach and how the squad are dealing with it ahead of a big test against Northampton.

The U’s are looking to bounce back from their first loss in six games following a 1-0 defeat to Carlisle last weekend. The U’s have been in great form in the new year; however, the Head Coach left the club on Tuesday for Wycombe. Chilvers has reiterated the words of Colchester United Chairman, Robbie Cowling and has mentioned that the players are the ones that go out and do the business on the pitch.

Chilvers has been in good form recently after slipping out of the first team for a couple of months before Christmas, the midfielder has fought his way back into contention and is keen to keep it going.

“Obviously the gaffer was a major part of how well we’ve been doing and the feel-good factor around the club, but like the chairman said it’s about us players on the pitch who have been winning the games, so we’ve just got to try and keep doing that.

“I think while the club are looking for their next manager, it’s just about being positive and really taking on board on what Ross, Dave and Wardy [Elliot Ward] are trying to do with us, which is slightly different at times, but not straying away too much from what we were doing successfully, it’s just about making sure we’re doing everything right and treat them as the managers for the time being."
