Colchester United Boss Ben Garner is excited to get back to training ahead of the 2023/24 season – starting with a training camp in Southern Spain.
The players reported for duty at the back end of last week to complete tests after seven weeks away from the JobServe Community Stadium and Florence Park, and have now jetted off to Malaga – a session that will benefit the U’s across the season according to Garner.
“It was something that I pushed for in terms of going away. I’ve been to the same place before and it’s a really good set up, so we know we’re going to get the quality of pitches and quality of gym that we want.
“We’ve got a nice block of six days, which will be important in terms of training and connections amongst the group. You’re there 24/7 together; we’ll have meals together and we’ve got some activities planned.
“You’re developing the football principles that you want and that gelling amongst the players and that team spirit in the players that will help us in the good moments, but also the difficult moments in the season.”
