Colchester United’s U21 side take on Millwall in the Professional Development League this afternoon (2pm KO) at Maldon Stadium.
Coming into the game off the back of a frustrating 1-1 draw against Crewe at the JobServe Community Stadium last week, the side overseen by Liam Bailey will be aiming to take the positives from that performance.
Brad Ihionvien bagged his eleventh goal since the turn of the year with a cool finish from Oscar Thorn’s cross and will be looking to add to his tally. And after travelling with the First Team to Orient on Saturday afternoon, the striker will be full of confidence when taking on one of the best teams in the division as Millwall make the trip to North Essex.
The Lions sit second in the standings, three points off the top having lost just one of their last ten games in the PDL – a run that includes a 4-1 win over the U’s late last year.
We will have full coverage of the match, with a report to follow later today.
The U18s are also in action today as they host Charlton Athletic at Florence Park (1pm KO).
After a harsh 1-0 defeat to Peterborough United in the Professional Development League Cup Semi-Final last week, the U’s then hosted Posh in league action on Saturday.
It was a tough match for the U18s at the weekend, losing 5-0 at home to Peterborough but they will be aiming to bounce back against the Addicks later this afternoon.
