Colchester United U21s will take on Luton Town in a Third Round Premier League Cup clash at Maldon & Tiptree on Wednesday 8th November (7pm KO).
Supporters can purchase their tickets at the gate with prices set at £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.
The U’s will be looking to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat to Ipswich Town in the Professional Development League the previous week.
The U’s are currently on an unpleasing run of nine consecutive defeats, but performances could fill even the harshest critics with optimism.
Liam Bailey’s side has already played twice in the Premier League Cup, losing to Leeds United in a five-goal thriller that finished 3-2, and to Chelsea 5-2.
Luton have also succumbed to two defeats in the competition, losing 4-1 to both Chelsea and Leeds.
As far as the standings are concerned, the Blues currently occupy the top spot with six points and a slightly better goal difference than Leeds United.
The U’s sit third six points behind the first and the second spot. For anyone who is not familiar with the competition, it is played in the same style as UEFA Champions League with thirty-two clubs in the main group stage from Premier League 2 as well as the Professional Development League.
Like Premier League 2, it is contested between U21 teams, with each side allowed five over-age outfield players and one over-age goalkeeper.
Competition format
Group stage - The tournament is split into eight groups of four clubs, with each team playing their opposing clubs home and away. The top two teams advance to the knockout stage.
Knockout stage - The last 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final are all one-off knockout ties. If the ties are level after ninety minutes, they go to extra-time and then penalties if the teams still can't be separated.
